Pop-up stalls, music and exhibitions to celebrate Black History Month.
Black History Month Celebration – Saturday 25th October 2025
This Black History Month, under the theme Standing Firm in Power and Pride, we come together to celebrate Derby’s vibrant Black-owned businesses and Black creatives.
Join us at Derby Market Hall for a day filled with culture, creativity and community spirit.
Black-Owned Business Market
Explore a diverse range of stalls featuring local entrepreneurs, artisans and wellness providers, along with health and wellbeing information stands offering valuable advice and support.
Live Entertainment and Performances
Enjoy an exciting line-up hosted by DJ Sapphire, Founder and Host of London’s Jazz Lounge and recipient of the Unsung Women’s Award 2018. DJ Sapphire will take us on a journey through Black music with a live DJ set, while presenting a programme of performances including:
- Ethiopian dance showcases
- Soulful sounds from Donna Briscoe-Greene
- Art exhibitions by Syahi Arts, Armstrong Agoreyo, and Iyisha Rose (The Art in You Photography)
Come and experience the power of community, music and creativity as we honour Black excellence and heritage.
This event is proudly supported by Culture Derby, Derby City Council, and Derby Market Hall.
