160th Anniversary Celebrations
Sat 23 - Sun 31 May
Derby Market Hall
About the Event
We're hosting a range of events to celebrate the 160th Anniversary of the opening of Derby Market Hall.
For over a century and a half, the Derby Market Hall has been the beating heart of our city. From its Victorian opening in 1866 to its modern restoration, this hall has seen it all.
This year, we aren’t just celebrating a building; we’re celebrating the makers, the traders, and the generations of shoppers who make this place iconic.
Join us as we toast this milestone with a week of events, including themed pop-up markets, family-friendly workshops, our popular Farmers' Market, live music and heritage-themed activity.
The festivities start on late May Bank Holiday Weekend, which marks one year since Derby Market Hall reopened to the public, with the Indie Crafters Carnival, Northern Soul Night, Farmers' Market and live music and workshops.
For May half term, families can enjoy craft activities and music workshops, as well as an SEND Friendly Market Day on Wed 27 May. It will be a welcoming, inclusive drop-in event for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), alongside their families and carers.
Later that week, check out the Derby Young Traders Market on Saturday 30 May to see what the city’s next generation of entrepreneurs is up to. Then, on Sunday 31 May, The Derby Makers Market will feature a diverse range of products and a vibrant shopping experience.
